Post Treatment Advice
The Following Principles Are Post Osteopathic Treatment Guidelines To Assist Your Recovery
A gentle walk straight after your treatment will help your body and brain integrate the structural changes you received.
Over the next few days ensure you consume adequate clear fluids throughout the day. Osteopathic treatment helps to release metabolic by-products stored in your soft tissues and joints into the circulatory system. Adequate hydration supports this cleansing and purification process.
Take rest from very strenuous activity on the day of your treatment. On the day of your treatment, a gentle walk is sufficient exercise.
Move your body gently, carefully and with awareness, especially with bending, lifting and twisting such as getting in/out of the car.
To maximise your recovery, Do NOT sit for extended periods of time on the day of your treatment. If you have to sit for work or other reasons, ensure you have frequent breaks where you move, walk and gently stretch your body.
When seated, ensure you are comfortable and fully supported. Your back, buttocks, thighs, feet and neck should feel supported. Keep your legs hip width apart and feet flat on the floor.
For relief of muscle soreness, try using warm therapy, such as a warm pack, a warm bath, sustained relief heat patches, sports creams.
Avoid stimulating substances such as caffeine found in coffee and selected teas. Be aware that some herbal teas also contain caffeine, particularly green tea.
